چکیده

Carotenoids are a family of about 700 fat-soluble molecules that are only produced by phytoplankton, algae, plants, and a limited number of fungi and bacteria. Beta-carotene was named after its isolation from carrots and is probably the most familiar carotenoid. It is categorized as a ‘carotene’ whereas other carotenoids with additional oxygenated groups, such as lutein, are ‘xanthophyll’ (ZAN-tho-fill) carotenoids. premier

Astaxanthin supplementation does not attenuate muscle injury following eccentric exercise in resistance-trained men.

This investigation was designed to determine the effects of astaxanthin on markers of skeletal muscle injury. Twenty resistance trained men (mean +/- standard error of the mean : age , 25.1 +/- 1.6 y; height, 1.79 +/- 0.02 m; weight, 86.8 +/- 4.4 kg) were assigned to either a placebo (1732 mg safflower oil, n =10) or astaxanthin (BioAstin; 1732 mg safflower oil; haematococcus algae extract [con...

NatuRose Natural Astaxanthin as a Carotenoid and Vitamin Source for Ornamental Fish and Animals

NatuRose algae meal is safe natural source of astaxanthin derived from a unique strain of the microalgae, Haematococcus pluvialis. The majority of the NatuRose carotenoid fraction is astaxanthin, with about 15% of the remaining fraction consisting of canthaxanthin, lutein and beta-carotene. NatuRose is spray dried and formulated into a fine dark red powder and is currently used worldwide as a c...

Commercial potential for Haematococcus microalgae as a natural source of astaxanthin.

As a result of high production costs, commercial products from microalgae must command high prices. Astaxanthin produced by Haematococcus is a product that has become a commercial reality through novel and advanced technology. Cultivation methods have been developed to produce Haematococcus containing 1.5-3.0% astaxanthin by dry weight, with potential applications as a pigment source in aquacul...

Determination of astaxanthin stereoisomers and colour attributes in flesh of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) as a tool to distinguish the dietary pigmentation source.

The presence of carotenoids in animal tissue reflects their sources along the food chain. Astaxanthin, the main carotenoid used for salmonid pigmentation, is usually included in the feed as a synthetic product. However, other dietary sources of astaxanthin such as shrimp or krill wastes, algae meal or yeasts are also available on the market. Astaxanthin possesses two identical asymmetric atoms ...

Astaxanthin-Producing Green Microalga Haematococcus pluvialis: From Single Cell to High Value Commercial Products

Many species of microalgae have been used as source of nutrient rich food, feed, and health promoting compounds. Among the commercially important microalgae, Haematococcus pluvialis is the richest source of natural astaxanthin which is considered as "super anti-oxidant." Natural astaxanthin produced by H. pluvialis has significantly greater antioxidant capacity than the synthetic one. Astaxanth...
